The Western Line School District Board of Trustees welcomed Dr. Brad Blake as the new principal of Riverside High School during their regular Thursday meeting.
Blake was joined by his wife and children as he signed his contract that was promptly approved by the WLSD Board of Trustees.
“I am really pleased in our selection. I’ve interviewed several individuals and by far, this gentleman exceeded the expectation of a principal coming into the district and I think he’s going to do a fabulous job at Riverside High School,” Superintendent Lawrence Hudson said.
Blake’s predecessor and 15-year Riverside principal Donald Coleman also warmly and heartily welcomed his successor with open arms on Thursday.
“With the passion you have about education and kids and your Christian spirit, I knew then that we were going to be alright,” Coleman told Blake.
Making Riverside a “B” school by July 2022 is one of the goals Blake has his sights set on.
“We believe we can build on the success Mr. Coleman has brought all these years in making it a C school,” he said. “But by 2023, we would love to make Riverside an A school.”
