The Washington School Generals have started another basketball season this year and they are off to a 2-0 start. On Monday, the Generals defeated Delta Streets 48-25. On Tuesday, they defeated Kirk Academy 35-15.
Daivd Rounsavall is in his 16th year coaching basketball a Washington School.
Coach Rounsavall said Aidan Jones and Christian Britt are returning seniors who he is looking forward to having a great year and leading the team.
“Aidan is a great point guard, who handles the ball really well and is a good shooter and defender. Christian is a great rebounder and scorer inside and is also a very good defender,” the coach said.
Other seniors playing are Owen Hardin, Peyton Walker, Jad Abu-Hamdan, and Nadeem Abu-Hamdan.
“Our expectations are to compete for the district championship. We have the experience and ability to compete with everyone in our division if we play hard and play great team basketball,” Coach Rounsavall said.
He also stated, “We hope to play full court basketball both offensively and defensively. We will play various defenses and try to mix the defenses up to keep the opponent off balance and not let them get in a comfort zone.”
Christian Britt has been playing basketball at Washington School for 6 years. He said, “I’m looking forward to winning our conference this year. I feel sad because it’s the final year I’ll ever be able to do sports so I don’t want to waste this chance.”
Washington School 35, Kirk Academy 15
The Generals improved their record to 2-0 Tuesday night with a 20-point home victory over Kirk Academy.
Owen Hardin scored seven points for WS, Luke McPherson had seven points and four rebounds, and Aidan Jones had six points.
“We had a very balanced scoring night,” Coach Rounsavall said. “The best thing was that 10 of our players scored points. We had a lot of players get in the game and get some experience.
