The Deer Creek football team is cruising into the MAIS Class 2A Football Playoffs with plenty of momentum.
The Warriors (4-6) won their third game in a row on Friday with a 46-38 victory over West Memphis Christian.
No. 5 seed Deer Creek will host No. 12 seed Prairie View in the first round of the playoffs on Friday night.
Deer Creek coach Benny McLendon said Brayden Smith, Javion Williams, Grant Tolliver and Bo Ray all played well in the Deer Creek win Friday. Ray had a rushing touchdown and Tolliver had a receiving touchdown.
“We made a couple of plays on offense and had a few stops on defense and just kept playing,” Coach McLendon said.
Coach McLendon added his teams current winning streak is due to “getting healthy and starting to play as a team. Several of the guys stepped up and made a lot of good plays.”
The coach added that his team’s matchup Friday night against Prairie View should be a good test.
“They look pretty good and have some speed and a couple of big guys.”
