The Deer Creek School Warriors' bats came alive in a big way Tuesday as the baseball team collected 14 hits in their 11-5 victory over Greenville Christian School Tuesday.
The Warriors scored five runs in the sixth inning, powered by Brayden Smith, Hayden Smith and Clayton Kilgore.
Hayden Smith picked up the win as he struck out 12 batters in more than five innings of work. Bo Ray pitched one and one-third inning to collect the save. Brayden Smith finished the game with three RBI. Gavin Lewis had two RBI and Grant Tolliver had two RBI.
Deer Creek took a 6-0 lead after scoring three runs in the second, two runs in the third and one run in the fourth.
Greenville Chrisian’s Tae Knox, Gavin Lewis and Trey Rhodes helped get the Saints on the board early, but a double by Joe Terry drove home two runs for the Warriors to help give Deer Creek much needed momentum.
