The Greenville Park Commission has opened registration for 2024 Youth Flag Football and Kickball league. The league is open to ages 3-14 for kickball and 5-12 for flag football.
“Kids who play sports can reap multiple physical and mental health and well-being rewards”, Sports Coordinator Kyla Winford explains. Getting kids involved in sports at a young age will help the child improve academic performance while in school, think better, sleep better, and also they are likely to live healthier lives as adults. The list goes on.
Last season (2023) there were over 300 youths involved in the youth flag football program. Each Tuesday and Thursday the community came out to support the kids while also socializing with one another. That is the beauty of it all–bringing the community together through…..sports. Parks and rec has set a goal to double the number this season by advertising early.
The league is set to begin mid September at Ward’s Recreational facility. Registration can be completed at Buster Brown Community Center (400 E. Robertshaw Street). First time participants are asked to bring a copy of the child(ren)’s birth certificate to the office. For more info, contact parks at 662-378-1670.
