Greenville Christian School’s Kingston Grant scored three touchdowns Friday night to lead his team to a 36-0 road victory over Riverside High School.
Grant rushed in two touchdowns and also blocked a punt and recovered it for a TD.
Greenville Christian School quarterback Jaylen Bester, a recent transfer making his second start for the Saints, threw a 55-yard touchdown to receiver Tae Myles.
The Saints improved their record to 2-3 with the win, with all three of their losses coming against teams from much higher classifications than the Class 3A Saints.
“Obviously, it was a good win for us, but I still think we are making too many mistakes,” Greenville Christian coach Jon Reed McLendon said. “I think a big thing is that Jaylen, who is coming off a hurt ankle, is now running the ball for us and that is going to be big for us going forward.”
Greenville Christians Rashad Brown added a another touchdown for the Saints after he recovered a fumble and ran it into the endzone.
Coach McLendon added that he was impressed with how hard the Riverside Bulldog players played in the game.
“I tip my hat to them, because those kids never gave up,” Coach McLendon said.
Riverside’s record dropped to 0-5 with the loss.
The Saints will have another tough opponent next Friday when they travel to Jackson Academy.
