Greenville Christian School’s Tariyah Washington, the Planters Bank Player of the Week, has been dominating the basketball floor since the eighth grade, and now she is stronger and better than ever.
Washington had another fine performance this week in her team’s 54-36 victory over Clinton Christian. Washington led GCS with 27 points 10 rebounds and 8 assist in the victory.
"Taraiya can control the game, and she is where we have to go,” Greenville Christian coach Brother Sandifer said in a recent interview. “She is a very smooth basketball player and she does everything really well.
In the victory over Clinton Christian, GCS jumped out to a 27-15 lead at the half, but the Lady Saints had a slow third quarter and let Clinton Christian close the gap to 32-28 at the end of it. But, the Lady Saints picked it up in the fourth quarter and won going away. Sinaya McAtee added 9 points and 10 rebounds, while both Taylor Ellis and Tzyah Brown scored 8 points each.
