Two Greenville High School athletes signed National Letters of Intent Wednesday to play football at the next level.
Trey McCray, an explosive defensive back and the son of head coach Quintarus McCray, signed to play for Hinds Community College in Raymond.
Bryan Jones, a powerful right tackle, signed to play for Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson.
In front of family, coaches and teammates, the two seniors signed their scholarships inside of the Greenville High School library. Before the signing, Coach McCray said he was proud of both players.
“This is a bittersweet moment not only because on one of these in my son, but also because of the great work they both put in as football players. This tells them that hard work pays off. I want to tell them that this is a business now. Everything you do in college should be about your school work and football. To my football players that are in here, get your work done both on and off the field,” Coach McCray said.
After signing his letter of intent, Jones said he was thankful to have gone to Greenville High.
“Today I am very thankful and blessed,” Jones said. “I am thankful to my teammates, coaches and family for helping me be in this position today. I chose Co-Lin because it felt like home and was the best decision for me and my family. The last four years my coaches and teachers have made sure that I got my work done so I could be in this position today.”
