The Greenville High School boys basketball have been hard at work this summer.
Under Head Coach Timothy Speech, the Hornets are a perfect 4-0 in summer league play. This record includes the Hornets 25-24 victory over Coahoma County last week and a 34-24 win over Riveside.
“We are playing good, but as always there is room for improvement. Especially with the youth we have on this team,” said Coach Speech. “The main thing we have been really focusing on this summer is playing intense on the ball defense as a unit. Learning to move together in helping the helper. Also, we are building team unity and cohesion.
The Greenville Coach said junior guard Demarion Gibson has led the way for this summer in scoring and team leadership.
“We also have gotten great play out of our young starters, including eighth grader Marcus Peoples, and freshman guards Dior Williams and Kolbie Williams.
“Our seniors A’tavius McChriston and Chris Peoples have played awesome in helping us with these early wins.”
