With starting tailbacks Prentavis Madison and Eddie George out with injuries, Simmons junior Kenzavius Lundy filled in brilliantly in the Blue Devils’ 60-8 victory over Shaw last Thursday.
Lundy finished the game with 176 yards on four carries and three touchdowns. He also scored five two-point conversions.
“We ran the ball pretty well in the game, and Kenzavius did a good job filling in,” Simmons Coach Derrick Hooker said.
The Simmons Blue Devils improved their record to 7-0 with the victory and 3-0 in Region 5-1A. Shaw dropped to 0-7.
Blue Devil quarterback Tyrone Buchanan threw a pair of touchdowns in the game.
This Thursday night the Blue Devils travel to West Tallahatchie (4-3, 3-0) for a big region showdown.
“This game will likely decide who finishes first and second in the district,” Coach Hooker said.
