The Greenville Park Commission has begun its summer Dizzy Dean youth baseball and softball season. There will be nearly 200 youth participants engaging in organized baseball from now until the end of June. The league ranges from three- to twelve-year-old boys and girls. Games will be played at Ward's Recreational Center baseball facility on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the evening.
“The most exciting thing about this summer baseball season is that the participants will get the opportunity to play neighboring youth teams such as Lake Village, Belzoni, and Pace,” said Sports Coordinator Kyla Winford. “This gives our athletes the opportunity to go up against different talent around the Delta and to work on their game all summer.” On June 8th, two of our teams in the 8u and 12u division will travel to Dumas, Arkansas to compete in an all-day baseball tournament.
Following the summer baseball season, GPC will host a 4-week basketball camp for boys and girls ages 5-17. The camp begins on June 25th. Registration is taking place at GPC's administrative office, Buster Brown (400 E. Robertshaw Street) between 8a-5p.
