If they made box scores for little league games, the box score of the battle between the LitiGators and the Pirates on Wednesday would jump off the page. The coaches-pitch game was played at the Delta Sportsplex. It was played by seven-and-eight-year-old ball players.
The stat line for LitiGator sluggers Jase Cooper, Jaxon Knight and George Stock shines the brightest.
Cooper, Knight and Stock all went 4 for 4 from the plate. Knight hit three home runs. Cooper hit two home runs and a triple while driving in seven runs. Stock hit three doubles and drove home three runs.
These three sluggers were just part of a total team effort by the LitiGators who won the game 16-7. Players like Michael Hunter, for example, also helped the LitiGators cause. Hunter finished the night 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
“They hit the ball really well today,” said LitiGators coach Dustin Henry. “They are listening to what I am trying to teach team. I want them all to learn the fundamentals, and I want them to have fun so they will come back next year.”
The Litigators are sponsored by Dyer, Dyer, Jones & Daniels, Attorneys at Law.
While the LitiGators may have won the game, a number of Pirate players also played quite well. John Gates hit a triple and a double and drove home two RBI. Dalton Plunkett had two hits and drove home two runs.
“The team was determined, and the scoreboard did not indicate how well we played,” said Pirate coach Wynn Lowdon. “This is just our second game, and we are already showing great improvement.”
