Darius Davis was the keynote speaker for the event and was introduced by Mr. Michael D. Young, CEO of More Than Life Mentoring and Training.
There were more than 200 guests in attendance including former Greenville Public School coaches, educators, parents, and families of the recipients. The attendees' received a wealth of information presented by Mr. Davis. He encouraged the youth that when they fall down, they have to get back up again.
He also emphasized to the youth that just believing in “yourself” is not enough. “God is our refuge and our strength and none of our successes will be possible without his will,” Davis stated. “Trust God, be obedient to your parents and believe in yourself, know that you are somebody and as you work hard, continue to believe that you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength, knowing that no weapon formed against you will prosper.”
In closing, Mr. Michael Young told the youth to continue to believe in themselves and work hard as they go to the next level and proceeded to call each of them individually by name, giving them individual challenges and encouragement.
The More Than Life Mentoring program would like to thank the community for their support. "We look forward to continuing serving the youth of Greenville."
