As I was flipping between channels on the television set last night between NFL football and a cable news channel, I landed on the Manning Cast on ESPN 2. The Manning cast is where Peyton and his brother, Eli, breakdown the NFL game that is on Monday night.
Then, a thought occurred to me —— Peyton Manning would make a great President of the United States!
I know this may sound silly to most of you. But, I think Peyton has the qualities that we need in a President. Peyton and I are about the same age, and I have always admired him from afar. He seems like a truly good dude and someone who I would trust making big decisions for our country. Heck, I would trust him more than the jabroni politicians I watched on cable news last night.
Here are a couple reasons why I think Peyton would make a President.
1) Peyton Manning is a natural leader
Of course being an All-Time great quarterback doesn’t necessarily translate into politics. But, watching Peyton guide his teams over the years, Peyton’s leadership ability just flows off your television screen. In all the years I have watched him, he has always had his teammates’ back. Win or lose, he always took responsibility and never threw a teammate under the bus. Except for the one time he said something about his “liquored-up kicker,” which is understandable when you think about it.
2) Peyton Manning has a ton of common sense
In a world leader, you definitely want someone who has common sense. You want someone who can cut through the clutter and make practical decisions based on their understanding of the world. I would trust Mr. Manning to surround himself with good people to do what is best for our country. He may not be up to speed with world geopolitics, but I think he could be a quick learner and do what is best. Honesty and integrity matter most and Peyton seems to have both in droves.
3) Peyton Manning doesn’t want the job
This may be the main reason why I think Peyton would make a great President. Back in 2017, there were rumors that he may be considering making a run for the position as a United States senator from Tennessee. He quickly put those rumors to bed by saying on a radio station that he had “‘zero interest in being a politician.’ He then said, “It’s funny. I said this a while back. Somebody said I was going to go run a team. Somebody said I was going to go be a broadcaster. Now they’re saying I might be a senator. Next week I’m going to be an astronaut.
“Look, I certainly have an interest in politics and in our country. I just have zero interest in being a politician.”
This is the exact reason why Peyton should have the job! Unlike narcissist politicians, Peyton has too much humility to consider the job. I am sure he has a wonderful life with his wife and family, and the second he decided to run, he would be hated by 50 percent of the country. What person in their mind right would want that?
So, there you have it! Peyton Manning should be the 47th President of the United States. What a great president he would make!
