CLARKSDALE — Washington School’s Quan Mobley registered a triple double on Thursday night to help his team go on the road and defeat Lee Academy 61-52 in overtime.
Mobley finished the night with 19 points 18 rebounds, 10 steals and 5 assists.
The Generals trailed the game 16-6 after the first quarter and 25-20 at halftime, but they took the lead in the third quarter and held it the rest of game. Washington School had a 3-point lead with six seconds to go. Lee Academy made a desperation shot off the backboard as the clock expired to tie it at 51-51 at the end of regulation.
The Generals dominated the overtime 10-1.
“We did a great job getting to the rim on the dribble and getting it inside late in overtime as our big men had gotten their big man in foul trouble,” Washington School coach David Ransavall said. “He fouled out in the last minute of regulation and that allowed us to take advantage of inside mismatch in overtime.
Along with Mobley, Tylan Sherdon also had a strong night for the Gens. Mobley dominated inside late and finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Aidan Jones added 10 points, four assists and two steals. Luke McPherson had eight points and four rebounds. Owen Hardin had seven points and three rebounds.
