After falling 57-40 to Northside in the Region 3-A District tournament championship game Friday night, the Riverside boys basketball will have to quickly put it behind them because the Bulldogs are hosting Walnut High School Tuesday night in the opening round in the MHSAA Class 2A state tournament.
Riverside’s game against Walnut will be immediately following the Riverside girls basketball team, who is also hosting Walnut in the first round of the state tournament on Tuesday. The Riverside girls game tips off at 5:30 p.m.
“Our game with Walnut is going to be a battle. Anytime you get into the playoffs, you know both teams are going to be good. It is all about survive and advance,” Riverside boys head coach Sam Monroe said.
Monroe gave credit to North Side for beating his team in the district championship game which was played at North Side High School.
“They outplayed us, and it is never easy to shake off a loss like that. “
Jordan Wilson paced the Bulldogs with 13 points Friday night, and Otis Williams scored 10 points.
