AVON —The Lady Bulldogs fought to the end on Tuesday night in the opening round of the Class 2A Playoffs against Walnut but never could quite get over the hump in their 72-56 home loss.
Trailing by 15 points heading into the fourth quarter, the Lady Bulldogs made a valiant effort to get back in the game. Two straight steals in row by Riverside’s Qu’Niya Jackson helped the Bulldogs caught the game to double digits in the opening stages of the fourth quarter. Jackson led Riverside with 12 points. Karlasa Lewis and Alexandria Johnson both scored 11 points.
Riverside had coach Daneshea Davis said she was proud of how hard her team played on Tuesday night and the entire season. She also noticed the improvement from her team’s first-round game from last year when the Bulldogs lost by a lot more points than they did Tuesday.
“We are still very young and a work in progress,” Coach Davis said.
