During 7-on-7 competitions on Thursday between St. Joseph Catholic School and Riverside High School, there were glimpses of what may be in store for both the Irish and the Bulldogs this fall.
For the Irish, there was Jerrian King flying through the air and coming down with the football time after time. King played both wide receiver and a defensive back Thursday. King and quarterback C.J. Moore were in sync for the entire afternoon.
“We learned a lot about who is going to be our guy at QB this fall,” St. Joe coach John Baker said. “We also saw the benefits of all the hard lifting they have been doing.”
Baker also complemented Kye Nelson and Carson Graham for playing well during the 7-on-7.
From the Riverside point of view, head coach Jim Risen said he was more than pleased, especially with the play of potential quarterback Jason Irion.
“We are still young, but all these kids that are playing now have a year under their belts and this year things are getting easier for them,” Risen said.
Along with Irion, Risen said he was also pleased with the play of Otis Williams, Johnny Williams, JJ Allen, Makai Fife and Alex Chamblee.
“These guys are doing a great job learning what we are doing and responding well,” Risen said.
