The St. Joseph Catholic School football team ended its regular season in fine fashion with a 59-0 shutout home victory over Kirk Academy.
Fighting Irish (8-1) quarterbacks CJ Moore and Victor Baker were both on point all night. Moore completed 7 of his 8 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Moore also rushed for 96 yards and a TD, while also catching two touchdowns. Baker completed all six of his passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns.
“We played well,” St. Joseph Coach John Baker said. “We did basically whatever we wanted to.”
St. Joe senior Kye Nelson carried the ball eight times for 90 yards and a score.
St. Joseph’s Stank King and Donnie Smith each caught two touchdowns, and Carson Graham intercepted the ball and returned it into the endzone.
St. Joseph head coach John Baker and his Irish now have a bye week next Friday in the first round of the playoffs. When the Irish take the field in two weeks, they will have home field advantage all the way to the MAIS Class 4A championship game in Jackson.
Kirk Academy fell to 1-9.
