The Simmons Blue Devils (4-0) went on the road and dominated an undefeated team Friday night in their 42-14 victory over South Delta (3-1).
Led by Vontrez Rush’s 170 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns, the Blue Devils were able to dominated the line of scrimmage all night as they accumulated 363 rushing yards. Simmons’ Jermaine Edwards added 104 rushing yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns.
Simmons’ quarterback Devontae Rush added to the Blue Devils’ rushing total by carrying for 89 yards. Devontae Rush also threw for 89 yards and a touchdown.
“The best thing about tonight was how they overcame adversity,” Simmons coach Tavares Johnson said. “We had a lot of penalties and a lot of things that went wrong, but they overcame it.”
