INDIANOLA — Facing elimination Thursday night, the Generals kept their season going in a big way.
Behind a two-hit shutout pitching performance by Tyler Jennings and a 13-hit barrage at the plate, the visiting Washington School baseball team defeated Indianola Academy 14-0 to tie up their playoff series at one game apiece in the North 4A Regional Baseball Tournament. The third and deciding game is scheduled for this Friday night at 5:30 p.m at Washington School.
In a game that lasted only four innings because of the run rule, the General bats opened things up early as they scored six runs in the second inning, five runs in the third and three runs in the fourth.
The victory was for the Generals was quite a turnaround after they dropped game one of the series 5-2 on Tuesday.
“We swung the bats really well, and Tyler Jennings pitched a great game,” Washington School coach Hunter Palasini said. “Hopefully, the game will give us some momentum heading into tonight’s game.”
Hunter Trussell and Reid Henderson led Washington School with three hits each. Jones Roberson led Generals with four RBIs. Charlie Dunn had three RBIs. Tri Avis and Wade Fratesi both had two hits and each scored a run. Tyler Hitt a hit, scored a run and drove in a run. Henderson, Jennings and Trussell all hit doubles.
