Washington School’s Caroline Horn, who had a hat trick against St. Joseph last Wednesday, has been named the Planters Bank Player of the Week.
Behind Horn’s fine play, the Washington Lady Generals are 6-3 this season and a perfect 2-0 in conference play.
Washington School coach Jeff Giachelli says Horn has a knack for making the right play at the right time.
“Caroline has been playing forward for us for a while. She gets herself open and then knows what to do with the ball when she gets it,” Coach Giachelli said.
The Washington coach said Horn’s teammates have also played big this season. Mary Glenn Hooker, for example, has scored nine goals this season, while Avery Selby has also been instrumental in the Generals’ success.
The leadership of Caroline Murrell, the lone senior on this year’s squad, has also been crucial to Washington School’s winning ways.
Even though the Lady Generals graduated six starting seniors last year, they still have lofty goals for the season.
“The goal of this team is to play for a state championship which we have never won. We have stayed hungry and we have worked hard. If we keep working hard, we have a chance to do something pretty special.”
