LELAND, Mississippi - Martha Faye Walters Stovall passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on March 11, 2026. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday March 19, 2026, at Leland Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with service immediately following. Burial will be at the Leland-Stoneville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
She was born February 2, 1950 in Aberdeen to parents Curtis Buck Walters and Doris Faye Foote Walters. Her family relocated to Greenville in 1961. Faye graduated from Greenville High school in 1968. Then attended MDCC where she also played tennis. In 2003 Faye obtained a Masters in Business Administration from DSU.
Faye married the love her life, Lee, on March 20, 1971. They had two children, Shaun (1973) and Pendleton (1976).
During her lifetime, she worked for First United Methodist Church, Greenville and Leland; Trustmark National Bank, Leland; The Mississippi Small Business Development Administration; and finished her career as a professor of Accounting and Medical Office Technology at MDCC.
Faye was very active in her community. She was named Woman of the Year of Hollandale’s Junior Woman’s Club (1974). She is a Life member of the Junior Auxiliary of Leland where she was an officer and President as well as receiving the National President’s Award (1988). Faye also served as a member of the Board of Directors as Region III Director for the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (1988). Faye served as a committee member of the Leland Food Pantry (1989). As an active member of the Leland Chamber of Commerce, Faye served as President (1990) and spearheaded the drive to establish the Henson Museum (1991). She served as Chairman of the Henson Exhibit (1992). Faye was crowned Queen at the Junior Auxiliary Ball (2004).
Faye was also an active member of the Leland Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon, Elder, Christian Education Chairman, and Youth Leader for many years.
Opened and co-owned Stovall’s Gift Shoppe in Leland with her daughter, Shaun (1997).
Faye is survived by her husband, Lee Askew Stovall; daughter, Shaun (Evan Smith), son, Pendleton (Kim). Her sister, Jeanie (Tony Johnson) and brother, Robert. Her cherished grandchildren; Read Kelly (Taylor), Georgia, William, Olivia, Joseph and Briggs Staples; two beloved great-grandchildren, Lilah Lee and Robert; twenty-seven nieces and nephews and thirty-five great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Doris, her brother, Sammy, and her beloved grandson Caden.
Pallbearers will be Read Kelly, William Smith, Joseph Smith, Caden Stovall, Briggs Staples, Hunter Trussell, Brian Walters and Sanfrid Shaifer.
Honorary pallbearers are Randy Walters, Robert Walters, Jr., Robert Xan Walters, Jason Walters, Greg Patton, Clyde Patton, Kenner Patton, Mark Brown, Russel Brown, Kramer Stovall, Matt Stovall, and Christian Stovall.
