The Greenville Christian School girls basketball team jumped out to a 25-11 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in their 71-43 victory over Sylva-Bay Academy Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the MAIS South 2A Basketball Tournament.
Jakayla Williams had 13 points in the first quarter for GCS, including hitting three straight 3-point baskets in just a first couple of minutes. GCS led 42-17 at half and coasted home.
Williams ended up with a game high of 30 points, while Tariyah Washington registered a triple double on the night, scoring 19 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and passing out 12 assists. Taylor Ellis added 12 points for the Saints.
GCS will play Claiborne (La.) Friday in the semi-finals of South State. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
