The Nation's Weather for Friday, May 5, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Thunderstorms can produce flash flooding and damaging winds
from central Texas to Arkansas, southwestern Tennessee and
northwestern Mississippi tomorrow. Just to the northeast of
there, heavy rain may cause flooding in low-lying and poor
drainage areas in southeastern Missouri, southern Illinois,
southern Indiana, western and central Kentucky and
northwestern Tennessee. Rain and higher-elevation snowmelt
can lead to flooding in eastern portions of Washington and
Oregon, northern and central Idaho and western Montana. A
separate area of rain will dampen western parts of South
Dakota and Nebraska. A dip in the jet stream will finally
begin to lose its grip on the Northeast, but a shower or two
can still dampen the region.
