The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, January 7, 2025
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
East of the Rocky Mountains it will be very cold tomorrow as
an Arctic air mass continues to push south to the Gulf
Coast. High temperatures for most will be 10-15 degrees
Fahrenheit below the historical average for early January.
Snow will expand across the central and southern Rockies
leading to reduced visibility and slippery travel.
Meanwhile, a few snow showers can coat the ground downwind
of the Great Lakes. The rest of the nation will be dry,
though snow on the ground can lead to slippery travel in the
mid-Atlantic. In Southern California, Santa Ana winds will
pick up late in the day and overnight. Wind gusts can be
50-70 mph at times leading to a high fire danger and the
potential for downed trees and power outages. In the Central
