The Nation's Weather for Friday, January 24, 2025
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
In Southern California, a Santa Ana wind event with strong
winds gusts will continue early tomorrow before gusts taper
down overnight. Gusty winds combined with low humidity will
lead to an increased fire threat, but much-needed rain will
arrive this weekend. Meanwhile, light snow over the northern
Rockies will intensify before shifting south to Wyoming and
Colorado late in the day and overnight. A quick burst of
snow will move through the northern portions of North Dakota
and Minnesota. There can still be a few flurries or snow
showers downwind of the Great Lakes. While it will turn less
cool across the central and northern Plains, a very cold air
mass will remain locked in across the South and East.
Temperatures from Texas to North Carolina will be 10-20
degrees below the historical average for January.
