_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A winter storm can bring snow from the Appalachians to
western North Carolina and much of Virginia into the
Delmarva Peninsula tomorrow. There can be ice from northern
South Carolina into much of North Carolina. The most
significant icing can occur on portions of interstates 95
and 40 in eastern North Carolina, which can lead to
dangerous travel conditions, especially for the evening
commute. The heaviest snow can fall from eastern Virginia
into the southern portion of the Delmarva Peninsula,
delaying travel and leading to slippery conditions on
untreated roads and sidewalks. Arctic air will plunge into
the Plains down to the Gulf Coast; there can be increased
heating demand and record lows challenged. A storm in the
West will bring rain and mountain snow to the Northwest.
