Thursday morning shortly after 2 a.m., Greenville police officers responded to the 600th block of West Union Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a 19 year-old black male suffering from several gunshot wounds, according to a statement from Assistant Chief Michael Merchant.
Emergency medical personal responded to the location and transported the victim to Delta Regional Medical Center. The individual, whose name was not released at press-time, was later flown to University of Mississippi Medical Center.
“The victim’s status at this time is critical but stable,” Merchant said.
Investigators of the Criminal Investigation Division responded and began to follow up in the incident.
“We do not have any suspects in custody at this time,” Merchant said. “Investigators are actively following up on leads and anyone with any information on this incident is asked to call the Greenville Police Department or Crimestoppers.”
