A&A Pharmacies throughout the Delta have been making some changes to their locations and staff.
At the Aug. 6 Greenville City Council meeting, the council approved A&A to rezone from an R-5 to a C-1 at their 423 McAllister St. location to continue building a drive-thru. Their location at 1430 South Main St. is also getting a drive-thru installed. The new drive-thrus will coincide with the drive-thru already in place at their location at 2044 Highway 1 S.
Robert Stokes, co-owner of A&A Pharmacies, said all the work being done at the Greenville pharmacies should be completed sometime next week.
Stokes said he and his staff wanted to provide their customers better access to their medicine. Some customers may have mobility challenges, some may not feel well and others may have limited time, Stokes continued.
“Having the drive-thrus at all locations simply provides another convenient option for our A&A customers, even though many prefer to come in to the pharmacy or request free delivery,” Stokes said.
Their mission is to provide quality care for their clients, assisting them in medicine management and providing them with fast and friendly service that saves them time and money, Stokes explained.
Growing staff
After the closing of all Fred’s Stores/Pharmacies this past April, A&A began discussing the possibility of hiring Fred’s former employees to be placed on their staff.
After getting to know the applicants, which included pharmacists and technicians, Stokes said he realized their shared desire to serve others is what made them a perfect fit. And so, every former Fred’s employee that applied to A&A was hired.
In total, A&A hired three pharmacists and seven technicians, all of whom were licensed with the State Board of Pharmacy and had decades of combined years of service to the people of the Mississippi Delta.
The three pharmacists that were added on were listed as nominees for the Delta Democrat-Times’ 2019 Best of the Best awards, including John Wong at A&A Leland, Chris Pieroni at A&A McAllister St. and Susan Book Crane at A&A South Main St.
