Local female teenagers have a chance to join together this weekend for a day of healing and growth.
The inaugural #aCall2Purity - Workshop for Teens will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at a location that will remain disclosed after registration.
The purpose of the workshop, according to host Donna Davis, is to impart spiritual and moral principles into the participants; particularly in the area of speech, lifestyle, faith, love and sexual purity.
Davis, alternatively known as “Zoë Dee Speaks,” is an author, educator and speaker.
“As a former public school educator of nine years, my goal is to specifically target young girls ages 12-18 to pour into; I desire to be the mentor that I myself needed as a youth,” Davis said.
“The young ladies who participate in this event will not only learn how to be an example in five keys areas — speech, lifestyle, faith, love, and sexual purity — but will engage in emotional and racial healing as they express themselves through art and music. The goal is to break the negative influences that they may have been impacted by and rebuild healthier versions of who they are and will become.”
This event is free to all interested participating, but registration is required and limited. To register, visit witnesslegend.com/zoe-dee-speaks.html#/
During the event, participants will receive five lecture styled presentations, with interactive breaks. DMI Mobile Lab of Cleveland, will be in attendance to lead the young ladies into visual and musical activities, enhancing not only their participation but their retention of the lessons. The young ladies will receive a meal and drink, along with catering by local vendor Kay’s Kute Fruits.
Davis said she felt an unction and conviction to host this event in her hometown for several reasons.
“The main reason is that since leaving home, almost two years ago, I have had the honor of being requested to deliver this message in several other states, even north Mississippi,” Davis said. Yet, it’s Greenville, Mississippi, that raised me. It was the Greenville community that led me in the right direction for many years. I asked myself, ‘How can I travel the world and give my gift to everywhere but home?’ And for that reason, I wanted to begin my year as a speaker imparting into my Greenville. I never want to be too far away from home that I can’t come back and be who I believe our youth needs,” she said.
Davis said this will definitely not be the last event she hosts at home.
“However, I want this event not only in Greenville, but in all surrounding areas and throughout the state. The curriculum will be available very soon for youth groups and organizations to have their own events like this,” Davis said. “I also offer the event as an online course as well. My plan for #aCall2Purity is to reach our youth, young adults, and even the older generation if they need it too. There’s no limit to it for me. I have a desire to include male mentors and host dual events for both genders also; so it will continue to grow. It certainly won’t be the last one.”
