Summer break is nearing its end and school days are vastly approaching. Here a list of the first days of school and open houses for each district in Washington County.
Greenville Public School District
School resumes Aug. 6., but there are some open houses taking place before next week.
5:30 p.m. at Greenville High School, 419 E. Robertshaw St.; 4-6 p.m. at Trigg Elementary, 3004 Lincoln Drive; 5-6 p.m. at Lucy Webb Kindergarten Preparatory School, 600 S. Harvey St.; and from 5-6 p.m. at Coleman Middle School, 400 Mississippi 1.
4-6 p.m. at Matty Akin Elementary, 361 Bowman Blvd.; from 4-5:30 p.m. at Armstrong Elementary, 528 Redbud St.; 4-5:30 p.m. at Em Boyd Elementary, 1021 S Colorado St.; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McBride Pre-K Academy, 438 N Poplar St.; 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Carrie Stern Elementary, 522 McAllister St.; 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Weddington Elementary, 668 Sampson Road; and from 4-5:30 p.m. at T.L. Weston Middle School, 901 Archer St.
From 5:30-7 p.m. at Greenville Technical Center, 350 S. Raceway Road
Western Line School District
School starts back Aug. 6. for Riverside Elementary and Riverside High School, 939 Riverside Road, Avon, and O’Bannon Elementary School, 1209 S. Raceway Road, and O’Bannon High School, 1203 S. Raceway Road.
There will be a Meet the Teacher session for elementary teachers at C.L. Morris Elementary from 4-4:30 p.m. and at Riverside Elementary from 4:45-5:30 p.m. Aug 4. Open houses are pending for WLSD.
Leland School District
School resumes Aug. 6. at Edna M. Scott Elementary and Leland High School, 402 E. 3rd St., Leland. Open houses are pending.
Hollandale School District
School starts back Aug. 5 for T.R. Sanders Elementary, 502 Mississippi 12, Hollandale, and Simmons High School, 501 W Washington St., Hollandale. Open houses will be held during the second week of school.
Washington School
School starts back with a half-day Aug. 8 for 6th-12th graders at Washington School, 1605 E. Reed Road. Also on Aug. 8, there will be registration for the elementary students.
Full day of school resumes Aug. 9 for all grades.
St. Joseph Catholic School
School resumes Aug. 7 for students at St. Joseph Catholic School, 1501 VFW Road.
Meet the Irish will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 21.
Greenville Christian School
School starts back with a half-day Aug. 7 for Greenville Christian School, 2064 Greenville Christian Road. Regular hours start Aug. 8.
Open houses are pending.
Deer Creek School
School will resume with a half-day Aug. 8 at Deer Creek School, 300 Deer Creek Circle. That evening, there will be a Meet the Creek event at 6 p.m. Normal school hours resume Aug. 9.
Unity Christian Academy
School starts Aug. 6 for Unity Christian Academy, 185 Napanee Road, Leland.
Washington County Opportunities, Head Start
All 4-year-olds will return to Head Start Aug. 19 at Fulwiler Head Start Center, 699 Dublin St; Garrett Hall Head Start, 415 N. Theobald St; Mclemore-Ward Head Start Center, 546 Gamari Road; Page Moore Head Start Center, 1301 N Main St., Leland; and Peace-Sanders, 505 W. Washington St., Hollandale.
All other children will return to Head Start on Sept. 4.
Parent Orientations will take place at the following: Fulwiler/Garrett Hall at Fulwiler at 1 p.m. Aug. 16 at 1 p.m.; Page Moore at Leland Health Department from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. Aug. 16; and at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 27 at Peace-Sanders.
