The City of Greenville and Washington County has plans to lend its support in helping to maintain the upkeep of sites in its local Greenville Public School District.
Superintendent Debra Dace informed the GPSD board of trustees at their regular Tuesday meeting the city and county agreed to assist in some of the district’s upcoming projects.
“We have spoken with the city as well as the county board of supervisors and they’ve agreed to help us with some projects and basically we will purchase the materials and supplies,” Dace said.
One of those projects include an upgrade to the GPSD’s softball field.
Dace said the city and county will help with labor in the softball field endeavor as well as an upgrade to the parking lot of one of GPSD’s elementary sites, Matty Akin.
“We’re going to purchase the materials and supplies and they’re going to provide the labor. In most of the projects we do, the labor is the most expensive,” she said.
Dace said in order to move forward with those plans, she would have to submit a letter to the respective parties in which she needed the board’s approval to do.
The board voted unanimously for Dace to move forward with the necessary correspondence to begin work.
