The Delta Democrat-Times has found a new home on the web.
The address is the same, but the site has been completely remodeled to a platform based on an Emmerich Newspapers, Inc. in-house design.
It’s the first web platform the newspaper has used which has been developed by its own company.
The site will be tweaked as operators fully integrate all of the components in the news coverage to their proper place.
The site is also a boon to local advertisers as every advertisement that appears in the newspapers will also appear online.
With more than 59,000 average monthly visitor sessions on the website, ddtonline.com is one of, if not the most visited locally-produced websites in Washington County.
“We are the only website in Washington County producing original local news content on a daily basis,” said Jon Alverson, publisher and editor of the Delta Democrat-Times.
The news on the website is free to current subscribers of the daily newspaper and online-only subscriptions are available as well.
While it may take some readers a bit of time to navigate the website in the beginning, all of the news from the older platform will still be available.
The newspaper is also partnering with newspapers.com to provide access to the entire history of the Delta Democrat-Times. The project is underway to secure digital archives of every newspaper published in Greenville in existence at the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. When the archive is complete, subscribers to the newspaper and website will have full access.
