The Delta Democrat-Times is pleased to welcome Hollandale native Jasmine Steverson as its newest reporter.
Steverson is a proud alumna of Simmons High School. She graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in journalism.
“Writing has always been a passion of mine and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be able to reignite it working here at the Delta Democrat-Times,” Steverson said.
The daughter of two former educators, Robert and Geraldine Steverson, she taught English Language Arts from 2014 to 2018 in the Hollandale School District.
Steverson attends Mount Horeb Baptist Church, Hollandale, and enjoys attending sporting events at her alma mater and spending time with her family.
Her interest in news writing was sparked by her avidity for sports, especially football, as she will be covering many of the Friday night football games in the Delta region.
“We are glad to have Jasmine on board,” Jon Alverson, publisher and editor of the DD-T, said. “That she is a Washington County native and chooses to live here will be an asset to our newsroom.”
The DD-T is a Pulitzer Prize winning paper, which is part of Emmerich Newspapers Inc., a third-generation family owned company with newspapers in Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.
