Delta Cotton Belles and Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church has partnered up to host a free Pink Check-Up breast screening event next weekend.
From 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 28 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 217 Third St., attendees will have the opportunity to receive free breast screenings performed by qualified practitioners as well as free blood pressure checks.
Carol Cashion Doolittle, Delta Cotton Belles president, said the Delta Cotton Belles volunteers are honored to partner with the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church team for a worthwhile event.
“The Pink Check-Up mission began at this church over four years ago, so it means so much to us to keep coming back to care for the community,” Doolittle said. “We hope everyone takes advantage of these essential screenings.”
Kim Dowdy, marketing coordinator for the Delta Cotton Belles, said this event in the past has been very beneficial for the participants.
“In the past few years, we have seen women who have needed further testing after they have attended one of these events,” Dowdy said.
Delta Cotton Belles is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide uninsured and underserved women breast health education and screenings as well as care and support for those women diagnosed with breast cancer in the Delta.
“The Pink Check-Up event allows for Delta Cotton Belles and Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church to share their knowledge with the women and men who attend,” Linette Perry, Pink Check-Up Chairman, said.
