Classic cars will fill the grass lot beside the Washington County Convention Center on Saturday as part of the Roll’n on the River Car Show with generosity at its heart.
Several years ago, a local girl, Parker Jones, was granted a wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Her wish was to travel to Hawaii, but sickness prevented her from making the trip.
In her memory, event organizer Billy Redwine said proceeds from the car show will be donations to Make-A-Wish and local organization Camp Looking Glass.
This is the third year of the event and Redwine hopes to see it to continue to grow as it did over the first two years.
“The first year, we had 70 cars. The next year, we had 80 cars and 20 cars from the first year didn’t come.” Redwine said. “We hope to have more than 100 cars this year.”
Redwine isn’t a stranger to car shows. He takes his half-cab 1976 Ford Bronco to shows all over the state.
“It gives us something to do on the weekends when we don’t have something we’re supposed to be doing,” Redwine said.
The car show is open to any vehicle built prior to 1990. Most of the cars will be American Muscle.
Registration for the event begins at 7 a.m. on Saturday and the show lasts from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
There will be food for sale from David Muirhead, several bounce houses and a train operated to benefit Camp Looking Glass.
