As the world addresses the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Commission is taking precautions to keep the community safe.
“The Greenville Parks and Recreation Commission remains very concerned for the health and safety of our citizens and park/facility users. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution ALL Greenville Park Commission facilities will be closed until further notice. The situation surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is fluid, and our actions including additional closures will be as well,” Parks Commissioner Corey A. Holmes wrote in a release.
▪ Amy Covington Community Center: The entire center is closed to events, games, practices and all other uses until further notice.
▪ Buster Brown Administrative Offices: The Park and Recreation Commission will be open with limited/essential staff. Please call the office at 662-378-1670 for hours of operation.
▪ Buster Brown Community Center: The entire center is closed to events, games, practices and all other uses until further notice.
▪Rounds Gym: The entire center is closed to events, games, practices and all other uses until further notice.
▪ Wards Community Center and Recreation Complex: The entire center is closed to events, games, practices and all other uses until further notice.
▪ Greenville Golf Course: The golf course will remain open. Users should bring sanitizing wipes and spray disinfectant to minimize the transmission of bacteria and infection.
▪ Greenville Golf Pro Shop: The pro shop will be open, but limited to five (5) customers at a time.
All other outdoor parks will be open for individual uses. All restrooms located at park facilities will be closed. Organized uses will not be permitted.
The closure of these facilities and parks include rental facilities as well as all sports and instructional programming, effective immediately, until further notice.
Amid the CDC recommendation of social distancing along with the increased concerns regarding the virus, the commission has also made the tough decision to cancel all upcoming events that were scheduled in the next coming weeks until further notice.
Those events include:
•Dizzy Dean Baseball & Softball Tryouts
•Dizzy Dean Team Draft
•Run, Jump, Throw Event
•Annual Cheer and Dance Competition
Easter Egg Hunt.
