HOLLANDALE — If they aren’t already, City of Hollandale residents can get even more into the Christmas spirit as the town prepares to hold its annual Hollandale Christmas Parade.
The parade will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 and this year’s theme is “A Magic Kingdom Christmas.”
According to Helen Johnson, municipal clerk, there are a number of bands scheduled to attend, numerous floats and special units from throughout Washington County.
As many would anticipate, Santa Claus will be featured in the parade as well.
Cindy Diamond Christian was selected to be the Grand Marshal of the parade this year.
“Breathtaking” is what Christian used to describe receiving the honor of being chosen as Grand Marshal of the Hollandale Christmas Parade.
“I have had many dreams in my lifetime and never in a million years did I ever expect this to happen to me,” she excitedly said.
Christian and her husband, Howard, have three businesses in Hollandale which include the Lollipop Market Place Bed & Breakfast, Suds N Squares and East Avenue Package Store.
“We couldn’t do this without our wonderful work team at all three of our businesses,” she said.
Christian also acknowledged people like Pamela Mackin, who assists her in managing their stores and Dorothy Williams, who she says is her “right arm” at The Lollipop, along with other employees who dedicate themselves to making the businesses a success.
She added, second to God, “All the honor goes to my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Diamond who chose to make this place my home and make me the person I am today.”
Christian said her mother, Jennie, will be riding along with her as well as her biggest supporter — her husband, Howard.
“Howard has supported me through everything I have done in our community physically, mentally and monetarily and continues to do so on a daily basis,” she said. “Thanks to our community for all your love and support that has been given to me.”
Churches, schools, clubs, groups and civic organizations are encouraged to participate and parade entry forms are available at Hollandale City Hall and Simmons Junior Senior High School.
