After an intense hailstorm last year, Greenville High School has been in need of repairs to much of its roof, which is now in the process of being done.
At Tuesday’s Greenville Public School District’s board meeting, Interim Superintendent Debra Dace discussed the update on the roof that’s been getting repaired since spring this year.
After the spring of 2018 hail storm, the roof was left with several areas that were leaking throughout the building. Since last year’s storm, the high school’s roof has only continued to deteriorate with each following rainstorm since.
The contract for the roof began in February this year. The actual work started in May, but the district had some temporary work done prior to the actual work in November of last year.
The entire building, excluding the new GHS annex, has been getting work done.
E. Cornell Malone Roofing Corporation, out of Jackson, is performing the work on the roof for the district and plans to be done with the project by Nov. 3.
Dace said her plans are to make sure everyone stays informed on the progress of the new roof.
“We are going to continue to give updates on the roof to ensure that the facility is safe for students and other stakeholders,” Dace said.
