One man is in critical condition and another is in hiding after a shooting at a local laundromat this week.
At 5:51 p.m. Thursday evening, officers with the Greenville Police Department received a call of a shot person in the parking lot of a Mr. B’s Coin Laundry, 1472 S. Colorado St.
"Upon arrival, they discovered a 42-year-old black male shot several times in the parking lot of the laundromat," Merchant said.
The man, whose name has not been released, was transported by Pafford EMS to Delta Regional Medical Center, where he was then flown to a Jackson hospital. He was last listed in critical condition.
Merchant said the victim arrived at the location after he received a text message from the phone of a woman, who is the wife of the suspect.
“The female was on scene when her husband arrived on scene and allegedly used her phone to text her child’s father (the victim),” Merchant said.
Once the father arrived on scene, shots were fired by the woman’s 50-year-old husband, who then fled the scene.
“This suspect is known but not in custody at this time,” Merchant said, noting police have been actively searching for him.
