Betty Chin
DURHAM, N.C. — Betty Jiu Chin, 73, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020, at her home in Durham. She was born in Mississippi to the late Howard Jiu and Mary Lum Jiu. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chin was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Jiu. Mrs. Chin was a retired teacher from Washington School, Greenville.
Mrs. Chin is survived by her husband, Lawrence Doon Chin; daughters, Tammy Chin Fox and Tanya Elizabeth Chin; grandchildren, Allison Fox, Brandon Fox and Tyler Fox; brothers, Albert Jiu and John Jiu; and a sister, Nancy Wong.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Maplewood Cemetery, with Dr. Garry Crites officiating.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, each family household may sit together, but anyone not in your family must be at least 6 feet from you. Limited seating available; face coverings and social distancing will be required for all services and visitations. We ask that anyone experiencing cold/flu like symptoms to stay home.
