GREENVILLE — John Weilenman Bell, born in Greenville in 1957 to Mary Lee Bacon and Andrew W. Bell, died on April 28, 2020 from cancer. John grew up on Highland Plantation, attended First Presbyterian Church, and graduated from Columbia Military School in Columbia, Tennessee.
John received a Masters from Mississippi State, graduating with honors. He worked for Bayer Crop Science from graduation until his retirement in 2017.
In 1977, John married Linda Nunnery and together they had two children, John W. Bell Jr. and Laurel Helms Bell Faisst. The family made homes in Greenville, Blue Springs, Missouri, Valrico, Florida, Vero Beach, Florida and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. John Bell lived his life with dignity and respect, always putting his family first. He was a lifelong learner, loved traveling the world, riding motorcycles and spending time with friends and family. He was well respected in the agricultural business with friends from around the world.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Ruth and Louis Nunnery; and his grandparents, Bessie W. Bell and Alta and Dysart Bacon.
John leaves his wife of 43 years; his children; a son-in-law, Michael Faisst; and three grandchildren, Hunter, Mary Elizabeth and George.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Greenville Cemetery, with Bob Sharman officiating.
