Mrs. Rollins lived a full and fruitful life and did her best to share it with those she met. She was a quiet, modest lady whose character might be summed up in a few words: she was sincere, she was earnest, she was loyal and she had a big heart. Her journey began in Greenville, where she was born, raised and educated. She was a graduate of Coleman High School (Class of 1960), attended Arkansas AM&N College at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and received a BS Degree from Mississippi Valley State University with a major in Elementary Education.
Her love for children was incomparable and she devoted 28 years teaching them with the highest standards. Her years of service were divided between Em Boyd, Armstrong, McBride and Manning Elementary Schools.
Mrs. Rollins was a lifelong dedicated member of New Jerusalem Church where she loved her role as an usher and also a dutiful Sunday School teacher which her students loved and admired her greatly.
For fifty years, she was an active member of Eta Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and also a fifty year member of Progressive Art and Civic Club/ National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc. and Youth Affiliates, Greenville Retired Teachers Association and she also enjoyed attending the weekly Washington County Triad meetings.
Mrs. Rollins had a happy and joyful life with her late husband of thirty-five years, Theodore Rollins, who offered her world travel and wonderful experiences during his educational pursuits. She particularly enjoyed their travel to Athens, Greece.
Spring time was her favorite time of the year when she would refurbish more than 30 pots of flowers and plants to beautify her patio. She loved a beautiful yard.
