GREENVILLE, Mississippi - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roy Allen Jones Sr., who departed this world on November 28, 2024, just two days before what would have been his and his late wife Jennifer Moffett Jones’ 50th wedding anniversary. Born on September 19, 1949, in Greenville, Roy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
Roy was a devoted father to three children: Rebecca Lynn Maund, Roy Allen Jones Jr., and Toni Marie Francis. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Dustin, Ashley, Layla, Kirsten, Cameron, Landon, Paxton, and Hyde, as well as a joyful great-grandfather to Ellie and Braylon.
He was a true outdoorsman and hunter, who found peace in nature and joy in sharing his knowledge with others. Whether fixing things, helping a friend, or simply sharing a conversation, Roy was a thinker, a doer, and a friend to everyone he met.
He will be remembered for his sharp wit, infectious sense of humor, and joyful spirit. Roy’s ability to connect with others made him not just a conversationalist but a confidant and companion to all who crossed his path.
To celebrate Roy’s life, a visitation began at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Mortimer Funeral Home in Greenville. Interment took place at Lakeview Gardens.
