GREENVILLE — Thomas Eugene “Tom” Bennett, 94, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2020, in Greenville. He was born June 10, 1926, to Ernest Eugene Bennett and Inez Skelton Bennett.
Thomas was a veteran of WWII and received the Purple Heart, as well as numerous other medals. He was a retired manager for Kroger Grocery Company, where he worked for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Presley Bennett; two sons, Maddux Bennett and Gene Bennett; and one daughter, Carolyn Bennett.
He is survived by his daughter, Portia (Ted) Solomon, of Cleveland; stepson, Jim (Ann) Branch, of Birmingham, Al; stepdaughters, Becky (Johny) Usry, of McComb, and Kathy (Stephen) Hogue, of Brandon; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, Sept. 25, at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Carthage, under the direction of Wilcox Funeral Home, Carthage.
