GREENVILLE, Mississippi - Wendell Lamar Marshall was born on Sept. 1, 1933, and passed away peacefully at Delta Regional on Dec. 12, 2023.
Visitation was at Mortimer Funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 14 at 1:30 with graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery at 2:30. Rev. Eddie Horton will officiate.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Algie and Annie Pearl Marshall, his sister Maxine (Clifford) Peden and his brother Earl Marshall.
He is survived by his wife Gloria, his son Greg (Tara) Marshall and his daughter JoAnna (John) Bosco, his brother Jimmie Marshall and his sister-in-law Bobbi Marshall. He was very proud of his 5 grandchildren-John Frank Bosco, Jr., Gina Bosco, Gregory Marshall, Jr., Kenner Marshall and Chrstopher aka Spud Marshall.
Wendell graduated from Neshoba County High School and received an associate degree from East Central Community College. He served in the US Army in the Korean Conflict. He met Gloria Jean Gamberini, fell in love and was married in Greenville on Dec. 8, 1959. He retired from Michigan-Wisconsin Pipeline after 25 years of employment.
He began his second career at the casinos where he made his daily mecca to pull the slots. His favorite past times were working in his shop, refurbishing found items and meticulously maintaining his yard. He is known for his punctuality and predictability as he traveled his daily route, selecting his roadside treasures that many of us are blessed to have received.
Honorary pall bearers are Jay Gamberini, Charles Guynes, Vernon Greenlee, Miller Greenlee, John Frank Bosco, Jr., Gregory Marshall, Jr., Kenner Marshall and Christopher Marshall.
