The seniors at O’Bannon High School were surprised Friday, April 26, with scholarships from Dr. Gregory Hudson, Vice President of Student Affairs at Philander Smith University in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Through his collaboration and relationship with Western Line School Superintendent Dr. Lawrence Hudson, every senior received a scholarship offer regardless of grades and GPA. Hudson shared with students that he feels every child deserves a chance to further their education.
Hudson reflected on his childhood as a student who did not always do his best in school therefore he had to rely on student loans to pay for his college education.
Hudson’s goal as a university vice president, is to give as many children as possible the opportunity to receive a scholarship to college.
Western Line Schools would like to thank their Superintendent for continuously creating better opportunities for their students.
The minimum scholarship awarded to students was $10,000.
Others received $34,000, and $54,000, and four lucky students received all-expense-paid Presidential Scholarships for $93,000 each plus a $200 a month allowance.
