LELAND, Mississippi - Ray Anthony Rainey, 54, of Leland, Mississippi, died October 5, 2025. A funeral service will be held for Ray at a later date, with details to be shared privately with close family and friends.
Ray was a 1990 graduate of Leland High School, where he excelled as an athlete, particularly in football. He briefly served in the United States Marine Corps. Ray is remembered for his charming personality, impeccable style, and laughter that could light up any room. His warmth and ability to connect left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, James L. Rainey Sr.; his brother, Craig B. Rainey Sr.; and his nephew, Miguel Patterson. He is survived by his daughter, Aaliyah Belton of Leland; his mother, Jessie Rainey of Leland; his brothers, James L. Rainey Jr., Kenneth Rainey, and Romall Rainey, all of Leland; his sisters, Phyllis Rainey and Carlo Rainey, both of Leland; as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who affectionately knew him as Uncle Ray.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in Ray’s honor, reflecting the spirit of generosity he carried throughout his life.
