CALHOUN CITY, Mississippi - Richard "Ricky" Roberson of Calhoun City passed away on Jan 18, 2025, in Greenville. He was born on November 24, 1962, in Brownsville, Texas, to Agnes and W. C. Roberson. He moved to Greenville in November 1970 as the foster child of Clinton & Norma Mixon. He was educated in the Greenville Public Schools and graduated in special education in 1982. He worked for Gil Worth Tire Co. until 1989 when he moved to Eupora. In 2009 he met the love of his life, Kayla Edwards. They were married on March 26, 2010, and lived in Calhoun City until his death.
Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and W.C. Roberson, his brothers Rodney and Dewayne Roberson, his sisters Kaye Langford and Beverly Kelly. He is survived by his foster parents, Clinton and Norma Mixon, brothers Buster (Patricia) Roberson and Clint (Patsy) Mixon, his sisters Lisa, Janette, and Debbie Roberson, Tricia (Tommy) Harrington, Stephanie (Mike) Kent and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Mark Burton, James Fuller, Brett Harrington, Winn Kent, Conor Kent and Reid Kent.
His funeral services will be held January 24, 2025, at 1 p.m. with visitation from 12 to 1 at Wise Reed Funeral home in Eupora. Burial will be at Crossroads Baptist Cemetery in Mathiston.
In honor of Ricky's love for children, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital.
